You might think that asking your friends to do a shameless plug for you on Twitter may be too much, and may be bordering on being "user-friendly." But in contrast, most of your friends would be very willing to help you out, especially if it has to do something about your fledgling business - besides, what kind of friend wouldn't want to see you succeed? Here are some tips we have compiled when employing this tactic: 1. When reaching out to a friend, prepare a simple spiel - whether personally, through email, Facebook or twitter message. State that you are in the middle of promoting something and that you need his/her help. 2. Prepare Tweets. Prepare 2 or 3 sample Tweets that your friends could use. 3. Don't forget to thank them! Send them a simple thank you note or bake them a cupcake, it's your call. This tactic doesn't only apply to your close friends, even with your acquaintances this may also apply. You might also be thinking that you have less chance persuading simple acquaintances to Tweet your classified ad URL for you, but think twice: in Malcolm Gladwell's book "The Tipping Point" he describes that weaker links in terms of relationships (in this case acquaintances) tend to be "more helpful" when asking for simple requests than stronger links.
